However, there are a few plot twists towards the end. This game is silly, absurd, whimsical, loony and the story is just a bunch of crazy stuff thrown together. Let's face it, 1UPs and continues belong in the past. Also there are no lives in the game, which is great. The game has a vivid colour scheme and a playful, zany feel to it and the later levels are quite challenging, which is why I think it's one of the best platformers ever made alongside its sequel, Rayman Legends. People have pointed out similarities with contemporary games like Super Mario Bros Wii and Donkey Kong Country Returns and sure enough it feels like it's borrowed some elements from them both. It was met with critical acclaim and was lauded for its graphics, music and gameplay.
It was designed by the original creator of the series, Michel Ancel, who hasn't worked on the series since Rayman 2: The Great Escape. Rayman Origins is a 2d platformer released in 2011. A truly realized vision at the top of its genre, Rayman Origins is an extravaganza with plenty of action to keep it fresh from start to finish and beyond. It's downright gorgeous and a total blast to play alone or with friends.
